Gemmel "Gemmy" Phillips, rooted in the influential Bristol, made his debut on the Plant Mu-label that is also the home of well know names as Benga and Mary Anne Hobbs. Together with Joker and Guido he is one of the founders of the so-called ‘purple-sound': a mix of hiphop, synth dub, G-funk and grime. ‘Supligen' is already a more than satisfactory foretaste of the new album.
