Hollie Cook^(UK)

Hollie Cook is een Britse zangeres die met een haar zwoele stem de luisteraar moeiteloos transporteert naar de Jamaicaanse zomer in de vroege jaren zeventig. Ze brengt een verfrissende mix van moderne pop en vintage reggae-invloeden, of in haar eigen woorden "tropische pop".

Hollie groeide op in Londen als dochter van Paul Cook, voormalig drummer bij de Sex Pistols, en Jeni Cook, backing-vocalist bij Culture Club. Na haar tijd bij punk/reggae band The Slits bouwde ze een solocarrière uit met producer en songwriter Prince Fatty. In 2011 kwam hun debuut album Hollie Cook uit. Hierover schreef BBC Music: “One of the most enjoyable reggae albums of 2011.” Het was vooral haar tweede album Twice en de hit ‘Postman’ die zorgden voor een doorbraak in 2014.

Due to the general subdued nature of her sound, there are times that it feels as if Cook is trying to lull you to sleep.
