Injury Reserve(US)

There’s a fairly diverse group of songs from driving around vibing out to introspective stories to a satirical critique of the current state of hip hop, yet it still flows well with the occasional help from musical interludes". Het raptrio uit Phoenix, nam hun debuutplaat op in een tandartsenpraktijk en doopten het Live From The Dentist Office. Alsof dat nog niet genoeg was, kregen ze doorheen hun loopbaan lovende woorden van Robert Christgau, de "Dean of American rock critics", in zijn column van Noisey: "the most unpretentious hip-hop you ever heard". Need we say more?

Pigeons and Planes bewondert hun dynamiek, en bestempelt Injury Reserve als "one of the best new groups in hip-hop".

"They make vibrant, jazzy hip-hop that seems to incorporate every genre of music you could dig up on the internet, from punk to grimes rap to EDM. Their most recent album included samples of Korean K-pop and New Zealand war chants. When done wrong, this breadth of wildly different styles might risk sounding like experimentation for its own sake. But Injury Reserve has made it work, developing cohesive sound that’s entirely their own." - Complex

"No bitch fictions unless protecting her bad self with their dad self counts. No street fictions either—if you must come strapped, they request you leave it in your pants. No preaching even as they dispatch anti-black bias, anti-Native American bias, consumer fetishism, global warming, and the trans bathroom perplex in one 100-second interlude. No flexible flow or crystalline enunciation, yet every apt word distinct. Parker Corey's production nothing to tweet about, yet every beat strong and hook real." - Noisey

Drive It Like It's Stolen!, hun nieuwste project, plaatst contrasterende emoties tegenover elkaar in dezelfde stijl als, maar coherenter en misschien zelfs succesvoller dan, Floss.

"Original and experimental production, powerful performances and lyrical subject matter, and success in capturing dreary atmospheres" - Sputnik Music over Drive It Like It's Stolen!
